Ugh! Another day off of school for the kids. My kids were just home for 16 days for the holidays.
I guess the last day of school will be sometime in July this year the way things are going. Better yet, why don't we just take the winter off, and let the 1st day of school for next year start in June.

From what I'm hearing it's brutally cold there. It was 75 degrees in San Diego today
One cold day does not a brutal winter make...

Well, the commute was certainly unpleasant this morning, mostly the walking to/from Metro part. 4-5 blocks with the wind whipping around. I figured I could make it with a pair of earmuffs, and I did survive, but I could have used one of those insulated ski masks.

This is the type of posts that I thought would be on this thread vs. what areas of the country are really colder than here.

Stay classy San Diego!

I think everyone(even you) would agree winters here are very mild. Today is a freak event. There are things I dislike about this area but actually weather is not one of them. I get all my season changes but don't have to deal with much extreme weather. My least favorite month may even be August with all the humidity.

This weekend the high is showing 62!

To be perfectly honest, I didn't even think it felt that bad out there this morning. I thought I would need a scarf, which I pretty much never use, and I still didn't feel the need to pull that out. Maybe tonight when I have to stand outside for a few minutes to wait for the bus. I think I was made for a colder climate.

What is this "polar vortex" I keep hearing about, and is it in any way a portal into another dimension?
