Kids being cold is only part of it. Buses that won't start is the other problem.

Drivers were told to report at the normal time (2+ hours before their first pick-up)...in the hopes that that would be enough time to get them all started. Nope....there are drivers that were still waiting for a jumpstart when I went home at 11:30 am.

You gotta realize that not everyone can afford Gore Tex jackets like George Costanza.
Hard to tell w/ the internet but I think you're being sarcastic? Nice Costanza reference.

Interesting info on the buses. It's a wonder winter doesn't cripple the entire school system for months at a time in places like Michigan or Minnesota.

According to this article, they sometimes just leave the busses running all night. I think for our school districts to do that, they would have to raise some money because bus fuel isn't free. It's a choice of extra costs or opening school late basically. Either way, you are out something.

Stalled Minnesota school buses fuel biodiesel mandate debate | Star Tribune

It also sounds like when the buses were running, the fuel congealed in those Minnesota buses leaving children stranded at bus stops and on the buses. Diesel also can congeal at low temperatures according to the article, but it also says that biodiesel congeals more readily. I wonder what our buses use (I have no idea).
