If you guys are history buffs, try Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant in Alexandria. George Washington and Ben Franklin supposedly ate there.

If everything is booked up, I've known people to have a Valentines Lunch instead of dinner or have dinner the nite before or after.

Valentine's dinner suggestions?

1. Don't take her to a buffet.
2. Wear a shirt with sleeves on it.
3. Don't go Dutch.
4. Don't take her to a place that has a TV on in the dining room.
5. If you violate rule 4, do not try to sneakily watch the TV.
6. No BBQ.
7. "Can I get that deep-fried?" is a question that should not come out of your mouth at any time.
8. If you have to use the restroom, don't bring a magazine with you.
9. When she orders, do not exclaim, "Well, somebody's hungry!"
10. If a strolling musician offers to serenade your lady, do not ask him to play "To All the Girls I've Loved Before."

OK. But seriously:

La Cote D'Or, at East Falls Church.

I booked a reservation for IL Porto tonight. Thanks for everyone's recommendations

With the snow mess out there, I hope parking is not an issue in Old Town area. That would be my only concern. I hope I don't have to cancel. If I do, I might just cook dinner for her tonight and rent a romantic movie. Thoughts?

We'll be at Il Porto tonight too There are lots of underground garages on the street perpendicular to King (Union).

I don't think it will be an issue. If it is, drop her off at the door and walk a few blocks. Or, I just got an email saying Ledo's is giving free champagne and roses to the ladies tonight! Order a heart shaped pizza and go back for netflix and head out tomorrow night

There's parking garages within a couple of blocks of Il Porto, so you'll be fine
