I can't figure out from the Alex. site if there is a refund for the city sticker, looks like I might have (hopefully) sold an older pickup that was in both names or survivor (which I am). May need help asap, I know to remove the plates, do I need to remove and save the sticker as well? TIA

Going off my experience of moving out of the city of Alexandria to Fairfax co., there wasn't any refund on the sticker, just a pro-rated amount for property tax on the car. I mailed my sticker back but they claimed months later that they didn't receive it and tried to charge me for it. I got that charge removed with a phone call.

Now to add to this - I have the check in hand (the friend whose service station it's parked at knows her) - I have the title - it's in both names with Or Survivor - hopefully, I can just sign it over? (when the check clears of course) - appreciate any help from someone who knows. I've tried the DMV site but can only find info. if I want to change title to my name only (unnecessary obviously).

Guide to Selling a Used Car Online, Locally and the Paperwork Involved | DMV.org . It tends to be more helpful than the regular DMV site. Also, if you are at all uncertain, the DMV does have a phone line you can call. It may take a while to get through to someone, but it can be the best way to get a specific question answered.
