It's doable. Next year is my 22nd year on the job and I'm $16k short of six figures, so I'm not just out of college looking to hit that mark in a few. My wife (yes, she works too) and I are raising a family and doing fine.

I don't recall many threads here about the Winchester job market; I don't know if it's necessarily as "booming" as closer-in areas of NOVA. Granted, nursing may be one of the few recession-resistant professions...but don't be surprised if it takes you a little longer to find employment there than you anticipated.
