Hi,

just moved to Del Ray neighborhood in Alexandria. Trying to find the best internet service provider. I am looking for internet-only service, don't need a cable/phone bundle.
Can anyone comment on internet service providers in Alexandria area?

Thanks!

I was happy with Cox in Alexandria and paying $50 a month for 50/10 I believe. I think you'll find there's a monopoly with the cable company depending upon the neighborhood.

I know the part she lives in is inside the city of Alexandria so she has Comcast as the cable provider. My condolences as a current (forced) customer of theirs.

Comcast and Verizon (NOT FIOS) are your ONLY options in Alex. City

DISH Network might also be an option. I see houses in Del Ray with the satellite dishes; I know DISH offers internet but I don't personally know anyone using them.

I am the internet provider for my dad in Texas. He has e-mail only, through a contraption called the Mailbug--basically a word processor hooked up to a phone line. So when he wants to know something from the internets, he asks me to look it up, and then I paste the result into an e-mail.

I'm stunned Fios isn't available in Alexandria City.

Apparently the City and Verizon got into some kind of disagreement over fees/taxes and Verizon now refuses to provide FIOS.
