I am an American but grew up in Thailand. My best friend (a Thailand citizen who lives in Bangkok) wants to send his daughter to middle school in the US in 2016. The daughter can live with me in Ashburn or attend a boarding school in the region. My friend is quite wealthy and can afford tuition at most places. What are some of the best private schools in the area that can sponsor a non-immigrant visa for an international student? The daughter, as with most students from Thailand, speaks and understands very little English so an ESL course is probably a must.

Most of the boarding schools in NOVA with considerable foreign populations start at 9th grade. Maderia, Foxcroft, and Episcopal High School are a few with excellent reputations to consider.

This is the place to contact and ask for advice: Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington

You are looking for a private school with a good ESL program, which most private schools around here don't have. My guess is that a lot of the more "elite" private schools are going to require a very high TOEFL and SSAT test score for admission, so you should look at a big range of places. The NAIS should be able to point you to the right direction.
