Private police carry guns and make arrests, and their ranks are swelling.

I always want to play cops and robbers. Didn't know it's possible, it's about time I get a badge and arrest those good looking girls.

I saw a little of this when I was still a LEO but I never had any problems with them. Seems like they may be trying to advance a little. The guy featured on here used to be a City of Manassas police officer but I never met him. He's got a better background for LE compared to most others but I still don't care for this at all.

As far as I am concerned, they should NOT/NOT be allowed to call themselves a police officer. I am okay with the idea on private property of writing citations and such, but the ability to abuse the power of arrest is too great.

people need to get used to it. The Government is doing this more and more, and you will see a lot more of it, like contractor use during Katrina. Contractors armed to the teeth had Police powers, and where authorized to use deadly force. They also confiscated firearms, even legal ones, since they work outside the Law and are exempt from recognizing legal or Constitutional rights.

Little bit of untruth in this post.

If a driver is pulled over by a SCOP and, fearing it's a police impersonator, calls 911 for confirmation, will the dispatcher be able to confirm that a SCOP has pulled the driver over? I could easily see questioning the legitimacy of someone in an unmarked car, wearing an unfamiliar uniform with name of a made-up police department on it.

Letting anyone that wants to play cop is a bad idea.

That's disturbing. What happens if these SCOP types get involved in a shooting incident?

Nope. I don't know of any police agency that would allow a SCOP to have access to one of their frequencies. I live very close to the apt complex listed in this article. God help this guy if he tries to stop me.
