Like the name of the thread, I was wondering if there were any decent places/areas for someone to practice/learn how to drive and practice parking around Clifton or Fairfax. They're relatively inexperienced ( Only three hours of driving and they only have a permit )
Thanks!

I don't have any specific areas but when I was teaching my kids to drive (3 down, 1 to go) I liked finding large neighborhoods with lots of streets and cul-de-sacs that you could drive on without having to go on any major streets. That's where I let them drive while they figured out the mechanics. When they were ready to learn about stoplights and merges and such, and ready to try higher speeds, we would go out early on weekends (like 7:00 am) and practice on the Fairfax County Parkway. We always put in a lot of hours before venturing onto the beltway.

George Mason campus might be a good place. Lots of big empty lots on the weekends with some light traffic on the roads.

I remember that there were some big empty parking lots on Eisenhower Ave in Alexandria when I learned to drive.

I don't know about that....those GMU cops have no sense of humor. It'd be a shame for the person to get their first ticket before they even have their license!

Dulles Expo Center parking lot mid-week.

And cemeteries for basic low-speed, stop for intersections, use your turn signal, type of beginning driving.
