Hi!

I got a job in Arlington, Virgina and I would be relocating. Job location is Jefferson Davis Highway.
Can someone please suggest some good places to live?
I don't have a car, so I would be using public transportation. I am looking for a place which would be
good and safe for a family where we can walk around in the morning or evening. It would be great if its close to grocery store, malls, couple of restaurants or even if the bus goes there.

Also, how safe is Arlington and specially Jefferson Davis Highway? As some days i might leave late from work.

Thanks,

You should definitely increase your budget, that's a low budget for Arlington. How many bedrooms and bathrooms are you looking for?

$1500 and under can definitely get you a decent studio within Crystal City/Pentagon City (where Jefferson Davis Hwy is located).

Look up the Crystal House, Crystal Plaza and Crystal Towers apartments for starters.

Other parts of South Arlington can easily get you a 1BR within $1500 and under, which will not be hip areas and they typically are not very desirable, although largely safe and secure for the most part. Just might be a bit dated and with large immigrant populations .

Consider getting housemates/roomates? That will expand your housing options significantly

If your work is close to either Pentagon City or Crystal City, then you would have easy access to the metro. So, then you could look into the Franconia/Springfield area (which has the Franconia-Springfield metro stop), which is close to the newly remodeled Springfield Town Center with lots of shopping. The metro is clean, easy to use, and reliable.. definitely a great option if you won't have a car. You may even be able to find a 2 bedroom that fits your budget. Hope that helps!
