If you live in Alexandria and commute to patuxent River md? What kind of commute is this and anyone ever do it?

That's at least a 65 mile commute each way. It's mostly non-highway too, so figure at least an hour and a half. Best case, with no accidents and not much traffic, that's 3 hours you're spending in the car each day. I would not recommend it.

I did it for a week from Woodbridge to Pax River (the base). Was about an hour and 45 minutes and that was very early in the morning. I couldn't do that every day but I know people that do.

I agree with Christine. About 2 hours from Springfield. It just takes a long time. Lots of lights and many areas that are below 55 mph.
