There probably would not be the current alignment of Route 28 (it used to follow Rte 657).
So basically do you think Loudoun would have been the boondocks, and PWC would have been much more dense?

If the airport was in Burke, the Orange Line would reach Gainesville, and the Silver Line would've stopped at Tyson Corner.

Loudoun would be a shell of what it is today because there's a big movement to stop development in the area.

If anything, Loudoun County would completely filled with Data Centers west of James Monroe Highway.

Loudoun has done a great job of keeping all development to the eastern portion of the county. In 50 years, this will be the smartest decision they made because it'll be easier to service all of their residents by keeping everyone in close proximity to one another.

While this wasn't asked, I think the Disney project would've had a much larger impact on the region than the airport ever did. Does anyone have any information about the Disney deal? I'd love to look more into that deal.

I remember the strident NIMBYism at the time as the battle was waged all over the DC Metro area media. As I recall, there was a lot of enthusiasm for the Disney America theme park by the locals who were looking forward to jobs and increasing property values. However, it was opposed by a number of the wealthier landowners and history buffs who believed the Manassas Battlefield and nearby historic landmarks would be overrun by the sort of tacky tourist motels, shops, and restaurants that sprawl around Disney World. When it comes down to a battle between competing interests, it seems that elitist interests almost always prevail over the hoi polloi. Wiki has a nice article on it with a lot of reference links that you can dig into for details if you are interested. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney%27s_America

1. And would Fauquier be more developed? Would the yellow or blue line already be in PW county?
2. What do you mean Loudoun would be completely filled with data centers west of Rt 15?

Generally you do feel without Dulles, Loudoun would be rural?
