Where in NOVA can you shoot targets in your backyard with a rifle? I know you can't in Fairfax, Arlington, and Alexandria. I've heard you can in West Loudoun if your property meets certain requirements, is that still true? What about Stafford? I just spent the day shooting with my friend in Carroll County, MD in her backyard and it made me realize how much I missed being able to do that.

Most counties appear to have some restrictions, PWC for example you can't fire a gun within 100 yrds of a building:

That seems to be a reasonable list in layman's terms that might give you the info you need, though you'll likely want to follow up with the local police dept to see what's legal before setting up your targets.

Okay, thank you for the link! I'd also be okay with just being able to shoot a bow in my backyard.

For now, the bow in PWC is also 100 yards. The HOA here is seeking a waiver to 100 feet in order to address the over populated deer problem.
