Hi,
My 7 yr old girl has a birthday coming up and I am looking for fun places to have a party.. Anywhere in the DMV area is good..

was thinking of National Building Museum, or Splashdown - failing which Pump it up in Ashburn but I think that place needs reservations and more minimums.
We are also thinking of kite flying at the National Mall , something even the slightly older kids will enjoy..

My 7 year old we just had a slumber party, but the kids did not sleep over.HAHA They came in their pj's, had pizza, did a craft, and watched a movie. The party was from 6-10 and the kids had a blast.
I did not want to go with one of the bounce houses with 25 minimum kids and every other person does them.

Two places I thought of after the fact that might be cool, but have no clue of the expense is Rebounderz(sp?) or a Rock Climbing place.

Only the parents..... Or maybe more realistically, the grandparents.

The last Chuck E. Cheese party I went to, each kid got a set amount of game tokens (I think 20). About half the kids ran out quickly and then begged/harassed the birthday kid's dad or their own parent for more game tokens the rest of the party. Made a mental note for me to never throw a birthday party there.

I looked into a bounce house for a party. There were no minimum attendees, just a set fee for a set amount of kids. Like $350 for up to 25 kids, $250 for up to 15 kids, or something like that. If you go above those limits, it was like $7 or $10 per kid extra. Obviously cheaper on a per kid basis the more you invite. The minimum fee was comparable to the minimum fee for places like the Zoo.

We've hired some zoo company in MD that brings animals to your backyard and also the Great Zucchini (local entertainer...the kids love him!). We always get food catered from Chick-Fil-A. This year we had a birthday party at the Falls Church Fire Station but you have to book that a year in advance. These parties were great. Went to a Chuck-E-Cheese birthday party this weekend as well and I was amazed at how easy this party is for the parents. The Little Gym offers birthday packages as well that are a lot of fun.

My kids just went to one at Rebounderz and loved it. Similar to Pump it Up, but with trampolines instead of moon bounces.

Here are a few suggestions (it will depend on what your daughter's interests are): Kidz in Motion (similar to Pump it Up), Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Cub Run Rec Center (indoor leisure pool), Ideaventions, Flying trampoline.

Laser Tag is also a great idea, especially for 7 year olds. There are plenty of places to go. Laser Quest (Woodbridge), Shadowlands (Franconia) and Ultrazone (Bailey's Crossroads) are the ones off the top of my head.
