I will likely be making a commute from the S Richmond area to Quantico, and maybe Manassas area at least twice a month. I will have to be at Quantico in the morning hours, but it probably can be after 9:00 or 10:00. Any suggestions on routes, traffic, times or places to avoid? Thanks for any help.

Your options are really limited. I 95 or Rt 1. But Rt. 1 is not really practical due to all the lights but this where everyone bails when 95 is backed up. 95 from S. Richmond shouldn't be bad in the AM until maybe the Spotsy area. With the hours mentioned you shouldn't have a major issue unless of course there is a bad accident still blocking the road. Going to Manassas you'll have a few options but they all start with 95. You can exit on 17 towards Warrenton then eventually take 28 into Manassas. Or come up 95 to the Rt. 234 exit to Manassas.

Your commute really shouldn't be that bad at all in the morning. There might be a little traffic through Stafford but not too bad. Same for Manassas. The only real alternative might be 17 to 28 to get to Manassas as Bigfoot said.

Worst time to do this commute would be Friday afternoons. However, as we get closer to winter, traffic on 95 dies down substantially as there aren't tons of people going to the beach.

Is this an out- and-back commute? Are you returning the same day? If going to manasas, I'd recommend getting there the night before, hotel, and get to job site at 8 well rested. Depart 2ish for long trek home. If everything is in a single day, then you might be a long haul truck driver.

Probably not (and bi-weekly doesn't mean once or twice a month
