I broke down and did... I used to always like it colder than most folks but have found myself freezing! (getting old I guess?) - just wondering if others have turned their heat on yet and what you set it at.

I changed the sheets today and for the first time in all the yrs. I've lived in this house, I put a blanket on the bed. I don't like to be hot but this quick cold (and apparently house isn't well insulated although my utility bills are very reasonable) has been hitting me.

I have had the heat off and on for the last two weeks, here and there. Nothing major or long term. Just to take the chill off in my bedrooms really early on some of the mornings it was cold. For my upstairs, it never goes above 71. For my main level, it is around 74 (and sometimes we still feel cold). Our lower level is kind of drafty and it never feels like it ever gets truly warm. That's one issue about this house I've never liked.

My building's heat is turned on. I haven't turned it on personally yet.

Nope, not going to do it! It's like turning on the AC in April.

Gonna be tough as nails until November 1.....maybe longer.

Not yet. I'm pretty sure I wont make it to the end of October though.
I just insulated my attic this spring. It made a noticeable difference in air conditioning so I hope it cuts down on heating costs too. My upstairs room is at 68f now while it is 38 outside.
Cold and damp is what gets me so the first rainstorm will do it.

I would if my building would switch over. The days are fine, but the nights? A few weeks ago it was in the 40's. When the range of temp is 70-40, it's time to switch to heat. The hottest part of the day isn't that hot and you're likely not home.

Not sure why people set arbitrary dates for HVAC systems? Why not just be comfortable to your own temperature preferences?

I turned the heat on the other weekend....but switched back over to the AC this week. If I feel hot, then it's AC.....if I feel cold, then heat.

That's me. I go back and forth. I never realized there was some "John Wayne" kind of tough guy stance on turning the heat on. It's kind of funny.
