We're moving to NoVa and my son (15 turning 16) isn't circumcised. I'm really worried he's gonna be the odd one out and get made fun of for it.

Tell me that isn't your real name. Because if it is, his friends are going to go nuts over this thread. (No pun intended.)

Does he plan on showing his penis to quite a few people?

He won't be. Intact boys are actually the majority in the area although not the state at large. It's not something to be concerned about. This isn't West Virginia (at 86% cut).

My son was born here and is not circumcised. I think there are probably still more circumcised, but enough aren't that it shouldn't be a big deal. When I was in the hospital I was at some post-birth class with about 5 other moms, and we were about 50/50 as far as who did and who didn't.

Any way you slice it, circumcision is painful. And at age 16, what's the hurry? I wouldn't stick my neck out and say I'm against it per se, but why not quit while you're ahead?

If the ladies he encounters sexually (or guys, whatever) voice a preference that he lose the hoodie, he can always go under the knife.

One thing is sure: The last thing he will want is for his mother to be part of that decision! Or to even speak of it!

Seriously: Let it go. The kid knows how to google. If it's a problem, he'll ask his dad/brother/uncle/other male authority figure. You're just going to make your relationship with him super-awkward for a looooonng time if you bring it up.

Now. Ask the mods to delete this thread, lest it linger in perpetuity on the interwebs, to his eternal embarrassment!

My son is 20 and, according to him, the majority were. Not sure what the change was 5 years later.

I wonder if it's too late for you to add a (men-only) two-option poll to this thread.

I guess I'm wondering what you would do if we all say that 99% of the men (well, we're really talking children) are circumcised?

It appears you've already decided to move here.

Would you circumcise your 15 year old? Instruct him never to undress in the locker room? Leave your child in another location?

I find it very odd that this is your biggest concern about moving to a new location. May I ask where you live now?
