Springfield Afternoon Commute (Woodbridge, Lorton: how much, live in, relocating to)

Currently relocating to a new job in Springfield, near Ft Belvoir. I'll be working a second shift starting at around 3PM. How bad is Northbound 95 this time of day? Trying to see how far south I can go and keep it under a 45 minute drive. I ride my motorcycle to work, any advantage to the HOV lanes that late in the day?

I live in Woodbridge and, Monday through Friday, am traveling southbound about 3-4PM.

For one reason or another, there is often traffic going northbound at that time. It generally seems to be from Rt 1/Lorton, up through Springfield. It's never gridlocked by any means, but I'm often surprised by how much there is. Other days, there's nothing but I would say that at least 2 days a week, there's a back up.

The HOT/HOV is pointing southbound at that time so it's not use to you if you are traveling north.

You do have the advantage of using US Rt. 1, Telegraph Road, etc (back roads) if traveling from the south. They will be absolutely fine at that time going in your direction.
