We are about to move to the area and just wanted to get an idea which is the best jurisdiction for homeschooling from folks doing it in the area. Which is less restrictive?

I saw your Maryland question first and answered there. Found the web site for the legal association. HSLDA: Homeschooling Advocates since 1983

Generally, Virginia is less restrictive on everything than Maryland. Maryland is heavily Democrat and if they can find a way to tax it, regulate it or ban it, they will. For instance, Maryland has a "rain tax". No kidding. We left Maryland about 20 years ago and never regretted it.

Best of luck.

Maryland has the breath and heart rate tax, but seriously the rain tax is true.
