Hi all -- thinking about applying for a job in Arlington right by the Courthouse Metro, but I live in Manassas in the Lake Jackson area. What kind of commute would I be looking at and are there options for public transportation/slugging etc? Thank you so much!

Just moved from off Lake Jackson Dr. Was there since 1986. That's a tough commute but one many do daily. You don't say what time. You have VRE at either Manassas Park or Bristow. You have the commuter lot at Balls Ford Rd just off the PW Pkway. Not sure on the slugs or the buses but others can advise. If you can be on the road by 0500 in the AM and 3 in the afternoon you can likely drive yourself if this is your only option but you'll still see some traffic, especially in the afternoons. Plan on an hour each way driving and more at times.

Hi Bigfoot, thanks for the helpful reply. I would be flexible on the time, but probably not able to leave at 0500; probably 0600-0630 at the earliest. Would driving through Clifton to Reston and taking the Metro be a viable option, I wonder?

Clifton is an option and one many use. Can get pretty congested as it's a narrow 2-lane road. Some people swear by it compared to 28 or 234 bypass to 66.

Clifton works well during the summer but during the winter it can be a PITA. Still may be better than 28, though.
