Considering a career switch to become a high school teacher in Arlington. Are there any teachers on this forum? How is it working for APS? Which subjects are in demand? I would love to teach math or government/economics.

Any input/advice is much appreciated!

I've heard it's hard to get on with ACPS because:

a) it's a relatively small district

b) they pay considerably better than surrounding districts

I have the same understanding as car54.

Have you looked into what it will take to become certified in these subjects?

APS employee. Can tell you that jobs in any of the social studies classes are extremely hard to come by. Math/science/Special ed are in higher demand.
