I am considering moving to DC or Arlington and then commuting to Lorton. Is this considered a reverse commute from either of the two locations? I was considering just moving to Lorton, but I wanted to live close to the city or the city itself instead.

Definitely a reverse commute and would be really easy. You may hit a little traffic in the afternoons going north through the Springfield interchange but it's nothing for DC traffic standards (maybe 5 minute delay).

I do that commute, almost--Arlington to Belvoir. Southbound before 6AM is pretty easy on 95. The ride home at 5PM is pretty trafficky but moving (fast).

Perhaps too easy. Watch out for officers, OP.

I would stick with Arlington. All bets are off with the 14th St bridge. The others are correct about going North through Springfield in the afternoons and the interchange.
