My husband and I have got a job offer at Innova fair fax hospital and we are planning to move to the area in the spring of 2017.We are looking for a house close to the hospital.Any suggestion on a neighborhood with good schools? Our budget is around a million.Wondering if there is any neighborhood with a walkable distance to the groceries and bus stops/ metro.

Falls Church City. Vienna is nice bu I am not sure if it will meet your desire of walkable to groceries.

Falls Church City has a farmers markets (Saturday?) in the summer.

EDIT: There are other options. Most of Arlington is nice and I do not think the commute would kill it as an option.

I have heard horror stories about traffic in nova, so I prefer a place with a very short commute. How far is Vienna from the hospital?

All good points. $1 million is a reasonable home budget in that area. Without knowing your housing requirements it's hard to say exactly.

Old Guard's suggestions make sense.

Here's the Farmer's Market website. Farmers Market | Falls Church, VA - Official Website

The commute from/to Vienna should not be bad. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Vien...8!2d38.8575625

You could live in Mosaic District in a very nice-just built town home. Walkable to Target, groceries, gym, and all the restaurants you could desire. It's very very close to the hospital.

Do you have kids? What kind of house? You have lots of options but more info would help.

Metro Row at the Vienna metro is also brand new housing with a shopping center across the street. It's about a mile from the metro, but there are buses.

The orange line runs right down 66 so you aren't going to find many places right on the metro as it would mean being on the highway too. Arlington is not a bad reverse commute nor is the stuff directly around the hospital, but if you live much further west than George Mason you'll be sitting in traffic a lot.

Vienna would be good - Vienna Real Estate - Vienna VA Homes For Sale | Zillow

You will want to be around that area above if you want to be near the metro, walking distance to stores, while staying in a good school district. The commute to Inova will be 5 - 10 minutes from that area.

Closer to metro and shopping would be a plus but not a first priority. Prefer a family friendly location with younger kids in the neighborhood. Close proximity to the parks!
