Hi,

Has anyone tried the grocery delivery service Instacart---particularly using Wegmans or Whole Foods for home grocery delivery?

Thanks.

Not yet, but tempted after seeing all the new signs promoting this at Wegmans. Not sure what the 'small price markup' is that is disclosed but not specified on the website.

Here is an interesting article from the NY Times--most of the "markups" are 10-15%. If you use Gas Buddy and a fuel comparison round trip--it is almost equal (within $1 and some change) of online order delivery charge vs. gas used to drive to the Wegmans Dulles store.

https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-In...p-on-groceries (Instacart article.)

Of course, the average 50-60,000 square foot grocery store carries over 30,000 items--so Wegmans store size is about 2 to 2 1/2 times the "regular" grocery stores. You can compare prices with the Wegmans site and with the Instacart Wegmans site. For some items that I get every week or so, I will probably use Instacart. I am going to use the FREE delivery offer this weekend and will post my review.

Also, Peapod has FREE delivery service too.
