Wow, you guys have seen some crazy! I don't think I've ever actually seen a fight at a concert.

I did see some aggressive shushing at the Kennedy Center, when someone sneezed a third time during a Puccini aria...

By the way, Mrs. C. and I will be heading to the Richmond Coliseum in October, to see Foo Fighters. Not sure I'll bother rating that venue, though, given how far it is.

I did work a Linda Ronstadt/National Symphony Orchestra concert at JL once. Only about 3000 people and half of them got free tickets off a radio station. No traffic and everyone was well behaved. Loved those but they were few and far apart.

Agree. I like Wolf Trap. No love for Jiffy Lube, the whole experience stinks except for the time I had "VIP" tickets and went to the special parking lot and had a lounge to hang out in. Like seeing shows at the Kennedy Center too. I saw Iron Maiden at Meriweather years ago and remember it being a good venue, but too far from my house.

Went to Richmond Coliseum once a few years back. Smaller place, remember it being pretty easy in and out. Parked in a garage nearby and went to dinner first. Had floor seats, so the show was good.

I like Wolf Trap. They have one of the best acoustics for an open air venue like that.

Dislike Jiffy Lube. Lousy sound, terrible parking. Watched Steely Dan there and left before concert was done because the sound was too horrible to bear anymore. Never came back. I'd rather watch my favorite artist at another state than go back there.

Love Birchmere and I find the supper show style similar to an intimate jazz club setting. Watched Michael Franks there while having a gumbo . Had a blast.

I watched Natalie Cole at Strathmore in Bethesda and enjoyed it. Parking was ok, sound was better because of its indoor setting.

I go to Blues Alley in DC a few times a year to catch my favorite jazz musicians. The place itself is a supper club style and very tiny, with seatings crammed shoulder to shoulder, and it has a $12 minimum per person for food or beverage purchase on top of concert ticket price. But it's very intimate and sound is good, so I put up with the place. It's really not better than Blue Note in NYC.

I wonder. Does anyone complain to management after a show letting them know how bad things are? Such as the sound. Other than Wolf Trap I've avoided going to any concerts after I hit 25.

I didn't bother but I did leave them a scathing review on yelp and other online review sites.. But most outdoor venues have lousy sounds, that's the reason we stopped going to outdoor venues. Wolf Trap is the only exception.

I saw Bruce at DAR Constitution Hall many years ago. I loved it because it felt so intimate. I had only seen him in very large venues before that (hello, Meadowlands!), so it was a nice change of pace. And although I wasn't working security, I remember the crowd there being a lot grayer and more subdued than at many prior concerts/venues where I had seen him.
