My wife doesn't like much variation, so we have the thermostat set between 67 and 74 all year. The heater actually kicked on a bit when it was cloudy/drizzly last week.

Do you get a yearly service done on your system? I always have a contract for service/cleaning on the HVAC system and ironically it was just last week for this service.

We're pretty lucky in this regard. Our house sits on top of a large hill in between two mountain ranges so we get plenty of sun with a couple trees providing some shade.

This is how ours is set. Also, during this time of year, I guess the way the sun hits, it can be fairly nice outside but when I get home from work, it is COLD in my house. Noticed this in the last 2 weeks. I put the heat on for about 10 minutes to get the chill off as I'm not yet in my heavy/warm clothing.

Just mentioned this this morning. My goal had been to leave the heat off til we were done with this move. If it doesn't get much worse than last night, that'll be easy for me (maybe not so much for him - he likes it broiling hot).

I only have the space heater in my room which I used this morning and my roommates haven't turned on the heat in the house.

My wife dies below 70 degrees in the house, and our furnace kicked on for the first time last night. Not bad considering it's October 18th.

Turned it ftom cool to heat last night. With overnight temps in the 40s/30s, I didn't see another option. I am a weak man, accustomed to a coddled existence of soft foods and warm climes...

Didn't do anything. The temp inside was a comfortable 72.

No we don't, one systems age makes it no value and the other heating/air was just replaced this spring. I do the cleaning on the inside and outside units, every so often I have a service call to clean the systems and check the a/c charges but I have can clean coils/cabinets just as good as the service tech who usually comes.
