I can't totally vouch for it but some of my son's friends directly out of college are getting about $65,000 with the BS. If you get the CPA credential I think you can get a good bit more.

Wow- I was expecting to see something about 10-15K less than that. Good for them!

A good way to view the salary range is to visit Glassdoor.com and search for Accounting in whatever city. As an example, I used Alexandria and entry level accounting appears to average around $50k. I think the lack of experience is going to put you at the lower end of the range.

Much of that depends on the school you're coming out of and your GPA. Some of the bright accountants are getting nice job offers. Just heard of two yesterday for around $70K. These offers are coming out of the big firms such as Deloitte.

Thanks for the info. I have no chance at the Big 4 since I am 45 years old. It's management accounting for me, even though I plan to get my CPA license as soon as possible.

This seems about right. A couple of years ago, I was Asst. Controller for a small firm in McLean. My Senior Accountant who didn't have a CPA, was paid around 50K. His duties primarily were AP, AR and Acct Recs. Larger firms will probably pay a tad bit more. And, if your job involves performing some analytics you will command a higher salary.
