Does anyone do this? I read the commute will wear on you, but I don't mind the 2 hour train ride one way..I can study for my master's and get work done or just sleep. It would be 3 days a week.
The one problem would be as a nurse you sometimes need to stay late for charting/giving report. So just wondered if this has worked out for anyone in the health care field? Fredericksburg does have a terrific hospital but the new grad residency programs in dc are months longer and offer more specialties and training and looks like a good possibility I'll get into a dc hospital (medstar)

No personal experience. I don't see why it wouldn't work. The only issue I can see is if you had to stay late at work, past the last VRE train Southbound.

After checking further, I don't think it would work out because the last VRE from DC is at 7:05 and not running on the weekends. I have looked at Woodbridge, it's affordable and then I could drive myself to DC. But honestly I was kind of looking fwd to those few hours on a train to get studying done and not drive myself and liked Fredericksburg. Thanks though Christine!

If you are working the 7A-7P shift you should avoid the worst traffic, especially if you stay a bit and chart. I work at Children’s (right next to Medstar) and it generally takes me about 50 minutes to get to Clifton if I leave 7ish.
