Those hoping to avoid the tolls now have more options, as this post indicates. Link below also points to a FB group and app:

The locations seem logical. Hope it works out.

These will probably become more popular when 66 outside the beltway also has toll lanes.

But working wonderfully in the I95 corridor for decades, with no major issue. I guess the wackos realize there are much better places and ways to be wacko, rather than trying to infiltrate a commuting community.

That seems to be everyone's initial fear. I was a slug driver for many years and was certainly nervous the first few times I did it. What you'll find is that you end up driving the same set of people every day if you go to work at the same time.

It's a really great system and works so well on the I95 corridor. These lanes will force it to catch on and it will probably really expand once the toll lanes extend to the suburbs.

So are you familiar with an incident involving these wackos at Slug lines?

I drove slugs and slugged myself for a few years between Burke/West Springfield and the Pentagon/Rosslyn. I never had any issue.

I'm glad to see the practice catching on along the I-66 corridor. I also think slugging will expand further west when the express lanes open outside of the Beltway.
