This move will be a huge windfall for homeowners that purchased homes right after the 2008 recession. Since 2009, the average home prices for the Northern Virginia region has increased from $432,000 to $590,000 in 2018.

It’s a windfall IF one is planning on selling. We bought in 2009. I don’t think my salary is keeping up with inflation as it is now.

The Amazon VP that also spoke at the "National Landing" press conference also mentioned an average of $150k, so must be some fact there. With Amazon being valued at $1 trillion, I think they understand that to enter the DC and/or NY markets that they would possibly need to come up on that $100k avg salary, especially when you take the increase of COL that is about to ensue. $100k is just above average when you think about it for thus region.

George Mason Univ would also benefit from added spending on education. IT-related jobs would be roughly half of the HQ staffing, which probably is generous and counts managerial, administrative, sales, and support staff in those departments.

Yeah, I’m a homeowner in Fairfax County, so I’m excited about any potential increase in value, but yikes about the traffic!
