My friend mistakenly drove on 395 during peak hours, not carpool, only one driver. Did not know about the rule, first time going to work in DC, thought it is EZpass toll road.

Where to search if there is ticket or not?

Thanks.

No. I was asking if there is camera to record it. There should be device detecting if there are three or more people inside the car.

No, no ticket if he wasn't pulled over. There is no such detecting device in use. Hundreds (maybe thousands) of people violate the hov rules on 395 every day on purpose and get away with it.

If a cop didn't pull your friend over then he/she is fine.

Are you saying your friend traveled in the HOV lanes on 395, inside the Beltway? If that's the case, they have not yet transitioned to the Express Lanes with automated checks for violators.

If your friend was in the Express Lanes on I-95 outside the Beltway, then those are automatically monitored.

See https://www.expresslanes.com/missed-a-toll

You enter the license plate number and travel date to see if they caught it.

Theres no EZ- pass inside the beltway yet, they are working on it as we speak. So your friend is fine no need
to worry.
