I heard it could go to Montgomery COunty MD too. But geez, seeing as how most internet traffic runs through NOVA and the Dulles Toll Road area is basically dubbed the east coast's Silicon Valley, I wouldn't be surprised if it does hit NOVA.

Apple new campus goes to Austin:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/13/appl...in-campus.html

Will start with 5,000 employees with capacity to hold 15,000 more.

Good for them. I'm not sure about the future of Apple personally, but if all goes well for them it looks good on their resume.

Amazon was most definitely the bigger catch and better impact will be felt with jobs avg $150k and the VT innovation campus being spurred by this.

Yep, I agree, happy it went to Austin instead of Tysons! We're doing just fine with what we've got already. We could probably use a good 5-7 years to get infrastructure caught up to what we've already got.

Apple already has a few thousand people in Austin. So really initially it's basically just new digs for those people and some moderately sized additions.

Tech firms love Austin because it's a socially liberal hipster haven, they love Texas because it offers a more amenable framework for big business than California and most other states.

I was hoping Apple selected our area to give Amazon some competition for jobs. Despite not having a place for these people to live, it still would have been cool to watch them fight for talent.
