Yes it is. I know there has been a rare occasion where some cars were broken into during the day but it is still a safe area. No area is crime free but this certainly not an area known for its crime.

You'll be fine. There's always a slight chance something could happen but the same could be said for any Metro station. I had a friend who's car was broken into and a Garmin (remember those?) stolen from the Vienna Metro lot years ago.

My husband has been using the VRE every day for a few years and has never experienced a problem with parking. Getting OUT of the parking lot in the evenings can take a while, because traffic gets backed up.
