I received a letter from Verizon telling me I have to upgrade my copper phone lines to fiber (not the same as FiOS service) by a certain date or my service will be cut off. I used their website to schedule an appt. for later this week. Supposedly, the entire install will be done that day which involves installing a new line outside and installing a new phone box (ONT). I checked the Miss Utility website and I don't see anything scheduled for someone to come out and mark existing lines. Is Verizon supposed to schedule this? It seems like I should be contacted about this but I haven't heard anything. I'm pretty sure someone is supposed to come out and mark existing utilities because this is how it was for several people down the road from me.

I don't know what they can look up in their computers, but maybe it's possible they already know there are no lines in the area they will be working? They are installing the new line from a different location where there are no existing utility lines on my property.

I'm just curious about this because I remember that time when my Comcast line got cut somehow and Comcast ended up cutting my Verizon line when repairing their line. I don't want my Comcast line getting cut, I have two elderly people in the house with cognitive impairment and dementia. I depend on that TV to keep them both quiet and out of trouble (now I know why parents use it as a babysitter).
