Possums are a load of fun to have around. They are really quite gentle creatures. We had one who lived in a hunger plant in Texas. Cats will happily share their food with these gentle guys.

I wish we had one in our yard but the brush isn’t thick enough. Would solve the tick issue.

Possums are immune to rabies so they are safe! They are marsupials, not rodents. And they eat thousands of insects including ticks. They are good to have around.

While rare in occurrence, possums can certainly contract rabies. https://opossumsocietyus.org/faq-opossum/

Rsbies aren't the only danger from wildlife. Ticks love opposums.

Also possums habitually groom themselves and eat the ticks they find.

Won't get rabies. Rabies requires a higher body temperature. Meanwhile, he'll help clean up your yard of ticks. Who couldn't use more of those? Raccoons will destroy nests in the ground of hornets. Nature's little way of helping us out. Also, never heard of a possum attacking either humans or pets. They're giant chickens

Thanks everyone. We've decided to leave it alone and, so far, we've been living in harmony like ebony and ivory! sorry, couldn't resist!
