Hello,

I’m looking for a computer savvy person who can come to my house to do miscellaneous tasks that are a bit out of my comfort zone. Best Buy and Micro Center don’t really work for me because everything I need done involves someone setting it up within my home. I really need someone to physically come to my house.

I prefer paying an individual who has the know-how rather than going through a company (cut out the middleman and all). Any recommendations of someone who’d like to make a little extra cash from time to time would be greatly appreciated.

Tasks I need done:

1) Setup a local network for a central backup drive that may be accessed by all PCs in the house.

2) Setup Pi-hole® to block network-wide ads.

3) Setup home movie server (using Emby or Kodi, perhaps?) that will be accessible on all home televisions. Teach me how to rip my DVDs (using Handbrake or other comparable software) and add the movies directly to home movie library.

Thank you!

Just FYI - this is of dubious legality as described very clearly in the FBI APW.

Not that any of us are trying to imply moral judgement - just that broadcasting this sort of thing on a public forum (or responding to it in kind) is probably extremely unwise.

Smells like a honey pot...

STEM + Grad + CISSP etc. and I read this as.... "Teach me how to rip, stream, store and federate copyrighted media I'm too cheap to procure myself".

Comically enough no mention of a VPN.

Just share files on a cloud drive..like gdrive...no need to set up a file server....you can store media files on the cloud, too..most tv read USB drive, DVD are almost obsolete.

I don’t want to use the Internet to watch my video files, though. Plus I don’t use Google products. I’m looking for a more customized setup. I just learned about JRiver Media Center, which looks like a great possibility!
