You do that, and don't forget to let your kids know that it is your own doing that I feel this way. It is time you stopped using the excuse that this country isn't treating you as an equal. When my husband was in the hospital, one of the largest in this country, EVERY nurse on his floor was black. When I go to the dentist, EVERY dentist is in this office is black. I think most people use the numbers anyway. Except those of us in Alexandria say "King Street" instead of Rt. 7.

I know many of you on here are not racists. But why defend something that has no reason of staying. We still remember all the terrible people of history but that doesnt mean they deserve roads and statues. I said that i wouldn't comment on this but i can't stand while people defend racist terrible figures in history and send the wrong message about Northern Virginia.

i used my home as an example. BLM is never going to stop, especially with Al Sharpton egging them on. I have been reading a book about this group and there is so much money being made by keeping this going, it is only going to get worse.

I understand much better how a black person feels about the confederate flag and the statues. It wasn't handled properly, but you made your point. I don't understand why the black race is backing the Democratic Party though because they didn't want to free the slaves. They actually haven't done anything, even to this day.

Anyway, think what you want about me. I hope you raise your children the way my parents raised me.

There are probably a lot of different little reasons people use names for streets and being a bit of a history buff I remember the Romans used street names in the BC times.



I am not sure if you yourself have ever been in the situation where you were giving directions and you come to a street that has no name or nobody knows the name of and people say "And you take a right at the big willow tree and keep going until....." then after years everyone standardizes on it and eventually it is names Willow St.



Streets that were all numbered would get old fast I think and people would still use their own names.

I certainly believe a person can become racist or most probably is and it just becomes more pronounced for whatever reason.
