I live in Reston and the commercial real estate is not doing that well. Every office building between 7100 and Hunter Mill has a FOR LEASE sign. I think a lot of companies have decided to go 100% remote.

Some employers have been cycling between office and home, either during the day or alternating full days. I've noticed some of the very large employers office building seem to have few workers on site because of the occupancy limit. Smaller office buildings seem to be hit-and-miss, sometimes full and sometimes not. I tried to reach a roofer. There was no one there on Friday, but everyone was there on Wednesday.

many of those vacant hi-rise commercial buildings will need to be retro-fitted for low income housing.

Even though some buildings are currently not being utilized (due to the pandemic and remote work) the spaces are still legally occupied and owned and/or leased by companies that will eventually have their workforce return to the office.

I have an agreement with my employer for three days in my NC office and two at home. I get to select which two days and I work in an isolated section of the office so I don’t need to have the mask on all day. I do temp checks before I head to the office which is a recommended measure that ain’t enforced.

My old Crystal City office is still barren and barely staffed from last reports.

Our company is largely back to normal -- I'd say 80% of the employees are coming in everyday. Some people wear masks, but most don't. The official company policy is to encourage people to work from home, but that can be challenging for many of our projects. No one in our (small) organization -- or their immediate family -- has had COVID. The building management has put signs on doors requesting that people wear masks as they walk around inside the building; as far as I can tell, that request has been largely ignored -- not just by our employees, but by the other companies that share our building.

Sad to hear that people aren't wearing masks - do they not realize that the idea is to protect others?
