HI,

My husband and I both work in the Pentagon/ Crystal city area. We are hoping to be out of Vienna by June, and are desparetly trying to find a place to buy. We had originally looked in Woodbridge but that is out now. I like Reston, but am concerned about the time it would take to get to work, especially if we weren't carpooling on a particular day. This lead me to look even further out (Chantilly, Manassas, Centerville) but I can't really guage how far all of these places are in perspective. If they all take about the same time to get in, then we'll have more options as far as housing goes.

If you commute from Reston/Herndon/Chantilly/Manassas/Centerville, how long does it take you to get to the Pentagon or Crystal City?

Thanks everyone!

Commuting by car from Manassas, Centreville or Chantilly would be nuts. Double that if you have to take separate cars and can't use HOV.

However, you are in luck! OmniRide goes direct from Manassas to the Pentagon. Link is OmniRide Manassas AM Schedule. If you went that route you could buy a house very cheaply in Manassas and commute in while listening to your iPod or reading the paper.

I gather there are similar services in the other towns you mention, too.

None of the commutes are going to be quick--there are simply too many vehicles for the road in NoVa! Good luck!

Why don't you look in the Kingstowne/Franconia area? Just a few stops away from work on the Blue or Yellow Lines. I don't know what your budget is but in this buyer's market you may be able to buy something nicer than you expect.
