Hi everyone,
I have been lurking about since May when my husband moved to Virginia to work for General Dynamics in Woodbridge. He is renting a room and the kids and I are getting ready to join him at the end of October (we are stuck in a lease here in California).

You all have been so wonderful with information and advice and Im so glad I found this forum. Now to my question.

Husband works in Woodbridge very close to the Potomac (sp) Mall. I have read so many different things about the areas around there I was hoping to get some clear advice on what area we should be looking to rent.

We have two children (age 5..yes twins) and would like a nice family area with good schools. I have heard and talked to some people and they recommend Lake Ridge. We would like to spend no more then $1500 in rent and have at least 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. We have two very well behaved cats.

I will not have to work when I get there and one of the main points is my husband will not have to commute more then 15-20 minutes at the most. He used to do a 2 1/2 hour commute a day here in California and it was really tough on him and our family.

Probably way to much information..and I have already bookmarked many realtor sites but any other advice is greatly appreciated. Move in date for hubby is November 1st. Im leaving CA to join him and driving across country with 2 cats and 2 kids on that date.

Thank you all and sorry its so long..but thank you for reading and any advice you offer.

Hi,I think Lake Ridge would be nice. I know Manassas-Bristow-Haymarket-Gainesville a little bit better. There are some good schools in Bristow/Braemar, but I don't think you need to travel that far. Also, the area right off of Sudley/234 in Manassas (zip 20112) is nice and I have friends at the elementary school right there on Hoadly and they are happy; that is close to Woodbridge. I would just double check your schools on greatschools, etc.
