Hi all...

I've been trying to track down as much information as I can about the schools in Leesburg as we'll be making a move there once our home sells here in Maryland. It sounds like most are good, but can anyone advise which ones are better than others? Are there any districts to stay away from?

I have two small children, ages 4 and 2, so elementary schools are my biggest concern at this point. Of course, they'll be ready for middle school before I know it, so information on other schools would be appreciated, too.

Also, does anyone have any good preschool recommendations for Leesburg? Are they easy to get into or should I try to get on the waiting lists now?

Thanks so much!!!

The only one in Lesburg that isn't that great is Catoctin elem. (they have had issues with due to many ESL kids) but so does Leesburg elem and they are a blue ribbon school etc...

My kids went to Leesburg elem and while it does pull from the low income housing apts the Teaches and administration are fantastic! Very active PTA etc...

Balls Bluff is good and so is Frances Hazel Reid (lots of the teachers from Smarts Mill MS have their kids go to Hazel Reid since it's next door)

Really all of the elem schools have good reps except for catoctin.

I would look at the MS they feed into if you are going to be staying long... I personally choose NOT to be in the Simpson MS pyramid. Smarts MIll is very good and has a fantastic administration...principal Stewart makes a point to get to know ALL the kids on a first name basis and is VERY visable and active on campus.

There's Loudoun Country Day school as well if you want the private route.
