My wife and I are seriously considering purchasing a home in Fairfax... but we're worried about commute times.
She works downtown DC.
I work at Bolling AFB.

It looks like I'll have to take either 236 or 50 and then 495S.
She'll pretty much be on 66.

Any ideas of what we can expect for average commute times?

thanks!!!

I haven't done that commute for over 6 years, now, but back when I was commuting from Fairfax (near Vienna metro) to DC, I used 50 -- much faster than 66 until after around 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Can't say about Bolling. From Vienna metro area to DC, if I went in after 10 or so, it was a half hour to the White House. Other times, using 50, it was about an hour, sometimes a bit more.

My husband did the 236 to 495 to Bolling for about 8 months and he said the last 5 miles of the trip home (on 236) took as long as the trip on 295 and 495. We loved that area but he is much happier with the commute from Alexandria to Bolling.
