I'm considering buying a house in Cinnamon Creek? Is it a good community?

Yes. Solid area mostly built out in the 1970's. Kind of strung along the Toll Road behind Meadowlark Gardens. Nearly as close to Reston as to Vienna, though. I predict that you'll be seeing a lot of Beulah Road...

I don't really think there's much about Cinnamon Creek that causes family arguments to suddenly go horribly awry. That kind of thing can/will happen anywhere...

It's not very convenient to shopping and other things in Vienna. Beulah road is a pain during many hours of the day. It seems like a nice neighborhood, just not all that convenient to shopping and metro.

Very strange that Mr. Appleberry would kill his own family. Interesting that they both worked for the FBI - maybe someone was trying to silence the Appleberrys and make it look like Mr. Appleberry did it.
Does anyone know why a 50 something yr old son was still living at home?

Denton is correct - this area is less convenient than other parts of Vienna to grocery shopping, running errands in the town of Vienna, and the Metro. It's probably more convenient to Tysons Corner and the Dulles Toll Road, though, than some other neighborhoods in the area.

As stretches of Beulah Road go, it's fine. Beulah does twist and turns a bit further to the north, which can be an issue when there is inclement weather.
