we are moving to NOVA in about a month but will be traveling within that month. My husband will be working at the pentagon. Is there a post office near by that I rent out a po box until we find ourselves a place?

I found one on S. Glebe. Is this convenient??

That PO is really not near the Pentagon, if that is your goal. The one on Eads is closer. If it is just to hold the mail while you are traveling, I would highly recommend just placing a hold on all your mail with the PO. We move alot, many times with up to 6 weeks before we move into new house. We do an address change, then place a hold on all mail. It will be delivered to your house when you end the hold.

If you need access to the mail during that time, I would recommend something in your new neighborhood.

Just reread your post...if you don't have a new address yet, I would suggest an place near your hotel, something like a Fed Ex Kinkos/UPs etc. Much easier to get to than PO's near the pentagon. Your DH might be taking metro which won't make it easy to pick up mail.

Did they take to P. O. boxes out of the Post Office on the Pentagon Concourse? My memory is fuzzy...I think the anthrax thing might have been the end of them.

I had a P. O. box in the Pentagon there for over 20 years when I retired in '03.

Thank you. My experience with the UPS stores and their boxes is that once you have forwarded your mail to them you cannot re fwd your mail to a new home address because you cannot go from a business address to a residence while you CAN go from a residence to a business. That was situation we got into when we moved here. I would like to stick with a PO box. I will check out the Eads one though.

Is there a Post Office that IS metro accessible near the Pentagon at all??

Good to know about the UPS forwarding thing...

As for the Pentagon PO boxes, I think they did stop all private mail, I know that someone coming in from overseas in 2003 had to have their mail sent to Bolling.

I can't think of a single PO near/on the metro, and it will depend greatly on which line etc.

There is USPS close to Crystal City Metro, and its not that far from Pentagon either.

1735 Jefferson Davis Hwy
Arlington, VA 22202

They have PO Boxes.

Other USPS locations in that zip code
