Could anyone recommend a good veterinarian and/or dog boarding facility, preferably with runs and not just cages? Also, what is the typical rate for dog boarding in the area?

Thanks so much!

I have heard good things about a place but have no personal knowledge. (Our dog is a rescue and he's only been with us for 8 months so we've never boarded him yet.)

A Dog's Day Out

Their rates are posted on the web site.

I've used Seneca Hill Animal Hospital and Pet Resort. Due to the expense of land, it's hard to find "true" dog runs around here. There is also Olde Town Pet Resort in Springfield. They have a weird requirement that your dog be bathed and groomed if it stays longer than 3 days. The bath is something like $60 to $85. Ugh.

You probably don't need this, but if your dog is ever sick, I had a great experience with McLean Animal Hospital. They do something called "hospital boarding." A vet tech checks on your dog, takes it out, a vet observes the dog, etc. It was a life saver when I had to go away last Fall and might be of interest to those who have elderly dogs.
