Hi All,

I want to learn to swim and I was wondering if any of you know if there are any pools / county parks that teach adults to swim? I was thinking I could start now and try to learn all thru fall-winter. Can anyone of you please help me?

Thanks

Pickup FFX County Rec Center's "Parktakes". It is available at anty REC center (and maybe the library?) There is also an online version out there. At any Rec center, you can hire qualified instructors who can give one on one instructions. You can also check individualized swimming lessons at the NV Jewish Community Center on Little River Turnpike. The pool there is clean and not crowded.

Yes. I learned to swim as an adult by taking classes through Arlington County Parks and Recreation Dept. I started with Level I and moved to Level IV (taking level III twice). Your instructor will be able to advise you on when you are ready to move up to the next level to stay challenged and learn new things. I know Fairfax County has the same type of classes.

My son just took lessons at Oakmarr Rec Center in Fairfax. Pretty sure they have adult classes as well.

You probably aren't going to get a response from a poster who only had the two posts in this thread, the latter of which was nearly three years ago now. Do what he did -- pick a Rec Center that's convenient for you and check out the Level I courses they offer.
