In case you were wondering, our rainfall is well above average for both the month and the year.

For June 1-22:
Average is 2.91"
This year we had 6.61"
The record was 10.67" in 1972.

For Jan 1 to June-22:
Average is 19.72"
This year we had 26.39"

Looks like we can kiss the drought goodbye this year. That's good news, IMO.

Not sure. I read it in today's issue of the Loudoun Times Mirror, so I'd guess Leesburg or Sterling.

Wow, we've only had 4 less inches than '72? Amazing...that's the year Hurricane Agnes hit the Mid-Atlantic states and caused 500 year flooding (meteorologists usually talk in terms of 100 year storms!) on the Potomac, James, Susquehanna Rivers!

I remember it like it was yesterday because I spent 5 days at anchor in the middle of the Potomac because the marina I kept my boat at was DESTROYED along with most others on the River. If you wanted to save your boat, the only option was to go out and stay out.

We rafted up dozens of boats and had a party out there like none I've ever been involved with....it took a week for my hangover to let up!

But we saved the boats and mine (the same one I had then) is just about ready for this year's cruise to DC for the fireworks on the 4th!

Look tomorrow for 1972's rainfall because Agnes lasted until the 23rd or 24th of June, IIRC.
