So, who has made this commute?

My general understanding is to NOT take 66 to Chantilly (or at all for that matter)?
Is 7 going to be that much better?

My Significant other is already in Winchester and I am following her from Ohio.

Any helpful comments would be appreciated as I have a couple job opportunities in the area.

I haven't made that commute but... 50 would be your most direct way and traffic won't get REAL bad until about Middleburg. I would say you are looking at 90min at best.

If your significant one is working in Winchester, I would seriously consider living somewhere in the middle and splitting the commute.

Thank you. I have thrown up the idea of splitting the commute. I think that it will be best.

50 has slower speed limits through the small scattered towns along the way and is only two lane most of the way. I think I-66 is the best route especially if you are commuting early. Or you can take Rt 7 to bypass Leesburg and then take the Greenway to rt 28 and then south to Chantilly. I agree with splitting the difference and looking at Haymarket, Leesburg, Purcellville. Regardless you will be going with traffic and your SO will have the easier commute. I work with several people that live in Winchester and other locations out that way. The key is to work earlier hours, say 6:30-3 and you can avoid most of the traffic. I-66 is heaviest between about 7 and 8am. Going home the traffic is always less because people leave at such diverse times.
