That would just screw people who can barely afford to live here as it is. Make metro parking even more expensive, the demand to live within walking to distance from a station would go up even more, thus pushing the rents up to an even more inflated rate around metro stations, even the furthest out ones. Just what the DC area needs, higher rent...

Let's see. Cheap $4.50 parking and a reasonable fare on Metro, or free Parking and much higher fares. Hmm? The people who don't have money (like me, for instance) usually take a bus, which is much cheaper than $4.50 (usually). It's the people wih money who are driving and parking. $4.50 isn't that bad.
