My husband and I have lived in NOVA for about three years. We moved here from Oregon and are really missing our fellow Oregonians. We've looked around and checked out meetup.com but cant seem to find any groups of people from Oregon who are living in NOVA. Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks for any help - we are really feeling alone here...

Check with you state senator or representative. They probably know of social groups for people from your state. Almost every state has a few of these groups.

Also, if a school from your home town send students to march in a DC parade, contact them and volunteer to help out in some way. Then you will get hooked up with the other volunteers (who will also be people from your hometown).

Here's the link to the Oregon State Society (http://ncss.typepad.com/my_weblog/oregon-society/ - broken link). This is the organization to which Caladium referred.

ITA with the above suggestions. My husband is from Washington so I asked him how he knows so many people in DC from his state and he mentioned the State Society and the local chapters for the big universities in his state--so those are two very good starting points.

Ummm, what do these here Oregonians look like?

If we know what to watch for, we can post Oregonian sightings right here on city-data....it might be fun!
